New Year - New Adventures

Hello readers! While this inaugural post is somewhat sublime in comparison to future post - I feel compelled to summarize my itinerary for 2010 thus far. If you've been to any of these places, are planning on visiting, or have any questions about these locations - feel free to contact me with tips and questions. I would love to hear from you!

Here goes:

January 5th - January 15th = Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland (Dublin, Belfast, Derry)

Purpose: Studied and researched peace reconciliation on "The Troubles." Received Anderson Grant to conduct independent study on the role of murals and art as a reconciliation tool and the iconography of torture. Once I finish this paper - I will be posting a link to it so watch out for it in the future. 

January 21st - 25th = Johannesburg, South Africa 

Purpose: Staying at a hostel and touring the capital of South Africa to gain more background knowledge.

January 26th - May 8th = Durban, South Africa

Purpose: Studying abroad on the topics of community health and social policy. Will be conducting one month of independent research so not sure what parts of South Africa I will be in for the duration of April and May. Suggestions?

May 8th - May 26th = Cape Town, South Africa and all over

Purpose: Pure nonacademic explorations of several towns with Amy! 

May 27th - June 18th = Kigali, Rwanda

Purpose: Will be working at an NGO dealing with peace reconciliation and conflict resolution. 

And the rest of the year is yet planned but updates will be provided as they come!
